Introduction

Welcome to our office. I would like to take a few minutes to tell you       about our office and myself.

I have been practicing family dentistry since 1978, with the first 18 years  i n Oklahoma. My family and I moved to Galveston in 1996 to enjoy the warmer climate and the beach (the fishing here is pretty good, too).

I have a staff of 6, including  full-time hygienists, and we are in the office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday thru Friday.  We welcome new patients and we see emergencies immediately. We accept many insurance programs, and we have financing programs available, with approved credit. We accept all major credit cards, and would appreciate the opportunity to accommodate your dental needs.

We provide many specialty services in our office including: orthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, periodontal treatment, cosmetic dentistry (whitening - In Office and take home,  veneers, and bonding), crowns and bridges, and dentistry for children. Therefore, it is rare that my patients have to travel out of town to see a specialist in a different office. This also allows me to do more comprehensive and timely treatment.

I practice conservative dentistry, and we utilize all the latest techniques and materials to ensure that we deliver the most up-to-date and highest quality of care to our patients. To help calm our apprehensive patients, we have nitrous oxide available.

We utilize the very best in sterilization methods and the Baylor School of Dentistry program monitors our system weekly. We also participate in a program administered by BFI, which includes annual OSHA training, and mock OSHA inspections to be certain our office is as safe as it can be for our patients and staff. All of our staff also receives annual CPR training in the event of an emergency of that nature. We have an AED (automated external defibrillator) on the premises and all staff are trained to use it.

We now use two new oral cancer screening tests, in addition to oral examination. Vizlite Plus uses a rinse to expose changes in oral tissues.  The Velscope doesn't require the rinse and has a camera attachment to send a digital photograph directly to a pathology laboratory, if needed.  Studies show that one person in the U.S. dies every hour of oral cancer.  The detection rate is low, and most aren't found until they are a State III or IV.

Our practice emphasizes personal care in a low stress environment to make your dental visit as pleasant as possible. We strive to stay on time and do not overbook appointments in order to increase production. We value your time, and you will be seen at your designated appointment time upon your arrival at our office.

I have averaged over 50 hours of continuing education per year since graduation (over 4 times the amount Texas requires for licensure), and my staff frequently accompanies me to continuing education programs. I am a member of two very prestigious honorary dental societies: the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the International College of Dentists. I am a member of the American Dental Association and the Texas Dental Association, Ninth District Dental Society, the Rotary Club of Galveston, and a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship. I have also been a board member of the United Way of Galveston.

In 2004 I was nominated by the Ninth District Dental Society for the Texas Academy of General Dentistry "Dentist of the Year" award.

In 2006 I was nominated for Texas Monthly's "Super Dentist" award.

My staff and I look forward to taking care of your dental needs and urge you to call for an appointment at (409) 765-9190.
